For example, I don't like ephemera's skins, while the rest of the simblr community seems to swear by them. Honestly, when dealing with skins a lot of it comes down simply to personal preference - what one person likes, another might hate. In checking ILTS' blog I also noticed a new skin, Candy Crush, which claims to be similar to Cake Face but smoother and more defined in the eyelids, but as my game's busted I've not gotten to test it out. It's quite realistic-looking and the colour sliders are lovely - I'm particularly fond of the one labelled "Honey", it makes for a nice darker-but-not-actually-black sort of tone.
If you want something a little further towards realism, there's also Cake Face, which recieved an update a few months back that eliminated the scalp-seam issues the skin originally had. It's very matte, which I like a lot as I personally dislike the shiny effect some HD skins give.
